A Foremost Ijaw Youth Leader, Mr. Stephen Christmas. Has called on the Governor of the State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. To without further delay, wade into the land dispute crisis between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Communities in Warri South West LGA and Udu LGA respectively.
The Youth Leader made the call today the 28th November 2021, via a press release signed by him and was made available to Newsmen. Of which a copy was sent to Coastal Times Newspaper.
Mr. Stephen in the release, described the communal clash between the two communities as one that has greatly affected and deprived the communities in terms of development and other social and civil benefits. As such, Urges leaders of the both communities to sheath their swords and embrace peace. So as to attract meaningful development to the communities.
The proactive Youth Leader on the above premise, charged the State Government to as a matter of urgency, lay adequate measures in addressing the situation by engaging the leaders of the both communities in a dialogue. As the crisis has already led to the loss of many lives and properties.
He further emphasised that if not urgently addressed, the crisis might escalade into a possible ethnic clash between the Ijaws and the Urhobos in the state.
