2023: Tinubu Urges Muslim Leaders To Create Department Of Political Affairs -

Bola Tinubu, a presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked the country’s Supreme Council for Shari’ah to establish a department of political affairs to raise political knowledge among the faithful in preparation for the election of a Muslim president in 2023.
He stated Muslims cannot afford to be left behind in political engagement countrywide, speaking at the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) Annual National Conference and Pre-Ramadan conference, held at the GMT hotel in Osogbo, Osun state.

While seeking the congregation’s support for his presidential bid, Tinubu, who was represented by the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, Chief Tunde Badmus, emphasized the importance of muslims, like other groups, ensuring that their followers participate effectively in the country’s political process.

“Other religious groups have begun political sensitisation by forming political departments or directorates among themselves in order to promote their own,” he continues. You should form a political wing among yourselves to help you focus your political participation. It will also provide a good platform for you to support your brothers who are running for political office.

“We must act on our prayers for the development of a good leader, but we must also engage in political activity.” “Almighty Allah responds to our prayers through our activities, so let us act while praying.” Tinubu stated that he would visit city councils across the state to seek support for his presidential ambition.

Sheikh Nafiu Baba Ahmed, the council’s Secretary General, told journalists that the meeting was held to define the agenda for scholars’ sermons throughout Ramadan, with the goal of encouraging the masses to actively participate in the political process.

The general public is hesitant to participate in the process since the current administration has failed to meet their expectations. The government leadership pledged to lower fuel prices and create new refineries, yet there is no fuel everywhere today, and the people are suffering.

“However, despite the crisis, we want scholars to encourage people to participate in the process and to grasp the importance of persevering until Allah provides us with a leadership that will bring his kindness to the people.” There is time to pleasure and time to suffer, but we must persevere until the nation’s best is realized.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had already stated that his actions in government have always been focused towards being a good ambassador of Islam, especially being the sole Muslim Governor in the country’s southern region.
He also urged Muslims to use the month of Ramadan to pray for the country’s success in overcoming its varied challenges.
