On Monday night, suspected gunmen surrounded the tranquil Otokutu hamlet in Udu Local Government Area for more than four hours without police or military intervention.

The incident happened on Monday around 1 p.m. on God Grace Road, where there was alleged continuous shooting for several hours as they broke into homes and looted residents’ belongings.

When our correspondent visited the area, a local told us that the hoodlums frightened the entire neighborhood for many hours with constant firing, and that the invaders thoroughly looted the area.
He claimed that as the situation became dangerous, he contacted the Delta Hawk patrol commander in Warri, but that he refused to come to the rescue.

Another local, Samuel, claimed that hoodlums wielding kill hammers demolished and broke into numerous homes in the area.

According to the reports, there is still hostility in the neighborhood as a result of the horrific incident, which resulted in residents being robbed of millions of naira and precious goods.

When contacted, the state PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe, stated the police are unaware, “but citizens are expected to report to the local police station if there is such an event.”

He went on to claim that because cops aren’t magicians, they wouldn’t know about a case unless it was reported.
He did, however, agree to look into the situation and report back.
