Anambra Governor Charles Soludo has formed a 15-man Truth, Justice, and Peace Committee to address the state’s escalating incidences of agitation, insecurity, and other concerns.

Other renowned sons and daughters from the five South-Eastern states of Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Anambra make up the committee, which is chaired by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu and secretary by Mrs Bianca Ojukwu.

Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government, made the announcement in Awka on Wednesday in a statement signed and made accessible to press.

The statement stated that it will take six months from the time of the inauguration to the conclusion of the mission.

The committee’s mission and terms of reference, according to Mr Chukwulobelu, include seeking a restorative justice method for truth telling or true facts, and for the healing of victims of abuse.

According to him, the committee’s mission is to determine the root causes of agitations, unrest, violence, and armed conflict in the South-East since 1999.

“Record the names of the victims and the circumstances of their deaths, maltreatment, and detention.

“Identify stakeholders and groups that have played significant roles in agitations and disputes, as well as their roles, capacities, and demands,” he said.

He went on to say that the committee would look into any other topics that would be relevant to determining the scope of the crisis and charting a course for the future.
The SSG remarked, “Make recommendations for long-term peace and security in Anambra State and the South-East.”

Dr. Joe Nwaorgu, Dr. Udenta Udenta, Dr. Uju Agomoh, Rev. Fr Jerome Madueke, Canon Okechukwu Obi-Okoye, and Charles Oputa are among the committee’s other members (Charly Boy).
Dr. John Otu, Ngozi Odumuko, Onyeka Onwenu, Joe Abah, Mr. Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, Sam Egwuatu, and Professor Joseph Ikechebelu are among the others.
