“It was an honor yesterday to lead my colleagues, the honorable councillors of the Warri South West LGC Legislative Arm, on a one-day excursion to the hallowed chambers of the Delta State House of Assembly to witness their plenary session.
The visit was a very educational experience for us as we observed the Assembly members performing their legislative duties. A key highlight was the screening and confirmation exercise of 19 secretaries for various local government councils.
After the plenary session, we had a private meeting with the Speaker, intending to present a gift from us. This meeting turned into another enlightening moment as the Speaker shared valuable insights on the intricacies of legislative matters. He advised us to be good representatives of our people, avoid infighting within our legislative house, and maintain a good working relationship with the executive arm.
I want to thank the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, for honoring our request to witness the plenary session, warmly acknowledging us during the proceedings, and hosting us to a wonderful treat afterward.
In the spirit of the saying “killing two birds with one stone,” we also took the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to one of the esteemed leaders of our local government, a seasoned lawmaker, Hon. Daniel Mayuku( a former Delta State House of Assembly member),who graciously received us at his residence in Asaba. It was another educative moment as he shared his wealth of legislative experience and emphasized the need for a good working relationship with the executive arm to move our local government forward.
Special thanks to Barr. Vincent Nadifa, Engr. Odende Oguma, Engr. Thankgod Eseimieghan , and everyone who played a key role in ensuring our successful stay in Asaba yesterday.
Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo Idukedoumene Samuel
Leader, Warri South West LGC, Legislative Arm.
