PAP: “Your Allegations Against Dr. Otuaro Lacks Merit, Integrity, Sincerity” Niger Delta Group Tells Nicholas, As They Threatens To File Lawsuit Against Him -

The attention of the Niger Delta Peace Initiative (NDPI), has has been drawn to a frivolous publication on facebook entitled “Earnest appeal for urgent attention on the stipends unjust denial of Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) stipends to beneficiaries from Asaraba Pillar camp, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State.”

The publication which is freely circulating on the social media was authored by one Amb NG Nicholas who poorly constructed mischief, and conceived an attempt to smear the reputation and good image of PAP and the management.

Although, written as an SOS supposedly addressed to Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State for his intervention, is filled with frivolous claims intending to run down the office of the presidential amnesty programme obviously.

The petition was unduly slanted to discredit PAP, and it’s meant to mislead the undiscerning public, and at the same time call public sympathy.

Our initial reaction was not to dignify the author with a response, especially given the frivolous deceptions alleged by the writer.

Even though, it is against the established policy of major stakeholders to trade words within our delegates in the public space, we however, take an exception here due to the weighty allegations put forth by the writer.

These baseless and spurious claims should not be allowed to gain currency because they lack merit, integrity sincerity, and malevolent to good purpose cum moral ethics – therefore, they should not be allowed and encouraged for good interest of PAP.

But more importantly, we must not be seen to aid the commission of subjudice because the matter is still ongoing in the Court of Appeal, Port-harcourt division – comments on a matter before a competent court will amount to contempt of court.

It may interest the public to know that majority of the beneficiaries in Asaraba pillar camp are being paid their monthly stipends till date, which puts a lie to the claims by the said Nicholas, who may need to do a thorough investigation before publicizing his petition.

It is important that we inform the public about this particular camp. The case was inherited by the present administrator, hence, all similar issues are being investigated with a view to finding a lasting solution or amicable resolution of the problems.

If Nicholas has a score to settle with the leader of the Asaraba pillar camp, he should do so without dragging the presidential amnesty programme to the fray for cheap publicity.

Nicholas also said in his petition that the public should hold the presidential amnesty programme administrator and one so called member of the Asaraba pillar camp responsible if anything happens to him and other beneficiaries of the camp.

It’s unfortunate that the amnesty administrator is too decent to indulge in any form of illegality despite Mr Nicholas Nathaniel’s mischievous claims to defame the presidential amnesty programme and the office of the administrator.

We advise the author to take his accusations elsewhere as a group that preach peace and unity in the region. But If he continues with his accusations, we may be forced to take all legal and legitimate steps to redeem the reputation of the presidential amnesty administrator.

We therefore advise all well-meaning leaders and stakeholders in Niger Delta to ignore these baseless claims by Mr Nicholas Nathaniel to score cheap publicity, as his claims are frivolous, baseless, and therefore lacks substantial substance.

Meanwhile, the matter is still in the Court of Appeal, hence, we advise Mr Nicholas, and his strange bed fellows to await the final decision of the court – as the amnesty office is a law abiding institution that adhere strictly to the rule of law.
