Former APC Councilorship Candidate, Hon Pina Ogrenfa Congratulates Professor Tubolayefa Oluwafemi On Her Appointment As The New Vice Chancellor Of The Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko

A renown Youth Leader and former Councilorship Candidate under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oporoza Ward, who also doubles as the Public Relations Officer P.R.O of the Birikene Youths of Oporoza community, Hon. Pina Ogrenfa, has congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University ( NMU ) Okerenkoko, Professor Tubolayefa Flora Oluwafemi, on her appointment as the new VC of the first and only Maritime University in the whole of West Africa.

Professor Tubolayefa who is a native of Oporoza community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State. Was appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the University by the University’s Governing Council on the 18th of June, 2025.

Hon. Pina sent his congratulations via a press release signed by him, which was made available to newsmen in the early hours of today the 20th June, 2025. Where he commended Professor Tubolayefa for bringing Joy and pride to the people of Oporoza community, and Gbaramatu kingdom at large. Being the first Professor to hail from the ancient kingdom.

The APC Youth Leader while congratulating the newly appointed VC in the release, used the medium to encourage other females in the Kingdom, particularly the female graduates and undergraduates, to pursue academic excellence through commitment to their studies. Stating that the Progress and Development of Gbaramatu Kingdom lies not just in the hands of the males, but also in the hands of the females. As he highlights the significant role played by women in community and society building in this 21st century.

He further admonished the females in the kingdom to be focused in their studies. Asserting that they owe it as an obligation not just to themselves and their families, but to the entire Gbaramatu kingdom, to make the kingdom proud both in the area of Academics, Politics and every other sector that will contribute to the growth and overall development of Gbaramatu Kingdom.

He also urged them to develop themselves in skill acquisition, to be equipped in all areas, in order to attract honor, respect and pride to their communities and kingdom ( Gbaramatu ), just like Professor Tubolayefa.

Hon Pina as well used the medium to charge parents in the kingdom, to lay adequate emphasis on the education of the girl child. Urging them not to relegate the girl child to the kitchen and the other room. Saying the girl child possesses incredible potentials that will foster meaningful development, growth and progress to every society. As such, advised the parents to give them the opportunity to be educated, just like the male child. So as to give the girl child the opportunity to fulfil her God given potentials.

Conclusively, Hon. Pina commended High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo A.K.A Tompolo, on his consistent support and promotion of educational development in Gbaramatu Kingdom. While revealing that Tompolo’s passion and contribution towards the standardization of the educational system in Gbaramatu kingdom, is one that cannot be overemphasized. As his immeasurable contribution to educational development in the kingdom, has catapulted the kingdom to the height of being one of the most educated kingdoms not just in Delta State, but the Niger Delta Region at large.

He went further by stating that Tompolo’s relentless efforts and contributions in the improvement of the riverine education has provided both the Pupils and Students of these schools an enabling and conducive learning environment, that has greatly improved their knowledge.

Hon. Ogrenfa therefore, used the avenue to call on other leaders and good spirited individuals in Gbaramatu kingdom, to emulate the ways of High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, by contributing to educational growth in the kingdom. As this he said, is the only way the Kingdom can overcome the present challenges facing the kingdom, and the ones to come in the future.
