We, the concerned sons and daughters of the Urhobo and Ijaw Nation and truth-loving people of Warri Federal Constituency, are compelled by history, by conscience and by the cry of the land to set the record straight and alert the world to the dangerous fabrication and manipulative tactics being deployed by a few individuals under the guise of Itsekiri ownership claims.

It is laughable, tragic and insulting to reason that those who parade themselves as the “owners” of Warri are, till this very moment, still paying rent to the Urhobo people of Agbassa for properties and spaces they occupy (The Olu Palace in Warri). If indeed you are the landlord, why are you paying rent to another? How can a landowner be a tenant at the same time? This contradiction alone shatters the entire mythology that has been sold through propaganda and compromised court decisions.

A DECADE OF DECEPTION

For far too long, the Itsekiri narrative has been propped up by a series of court judgments tainted by colonial bias, elite conspiracy and backdoor manipulations. These judgments, far from reflecting the true history of Warri, have been used as tools of suppression to erase the Ijaw people and undermine the Urhobo truth.

We ask the world.

How can communities that existed independently and flourished before the arrival of Ginuwa, now be declared tenants?

How can a multi-ethnic region such as Warri be claimed exclusively by one group whose own origin is traceable to Benin exiles?

How do you call someone a customary tenant when they have never acknowledged you as overlord and instead welcomed you as strangers?

THE WAR ON TRUTH

Let it be known far and wide, the Itsekiri people did not found Warri. They are not the aboriginal owners. They migrated and were received by the Ijaws, the Urhobos and others. It is not in our culture to deny shelter to visitors. But it has become clear that this generosity has been turned into a weapon of enslavement.

Today, they cling to manipulated court verdicts like sacred scrolls, conveniently ignoring the fact that court judgments cannot rewrite ancestral truth. They wave decrees and colonial maps but forget that the land was never created by any court, it was birthed by the ancestors.

The world must not be deceived by paid narratives, falsified maps and heavily edited history books.

OUR DEMAND

We call on.

The United Nations, Amnesty International and other international observers to send independent researchers and cultural anthropologists to investigate the true ownership and history of Warri and its surrounding communities.

The Nigerian Government, INEC and the National Assembly to stop promoting one-sided narratives and immediately release the authentic and final delineation report of Warri Federal Constituency in compliance with the judgment of the Supreme Court.

The media and academic institutions to rise above the noise and engage in truthful, unbiased documentation of the people’s history.

A WORD TO THE WORLD

This is not just a land struggle. It is a war against historical erasure. It is a struggle against the weaponization of the judiciary to suppress truth and justify injustice.

We speak not with hate but with pain. Not with vengeance, but with righteous resistance.
