DRUG SMUGGLING: Group Charge IGP, Delta State Government To Handle Issue With All Seriousness, Alleges Drugs Dealings Was To Purchase Guns, Other Weapons To Cause Unrest In Warri -

A foremost Niger Delta Group under the auspices of “Champions Of Drug Free Society”, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and other Security agencies in the Country especially the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA to handle the case of Emami Ajetsibogho, younger brother to controversial Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami who was said to be arrested by security agencies over alleged drug smuggling into the Country seriously.

The group said,”The drugs may have been meant for drug hungry Itsekiri miscreants to consume in order to fight and kill innocent Ijaw people.”

The group further pointed out that a gun-runner who is also an Itsekiri son smuggling guns into Delta State with the aim of causing unrest in Warri was recently arrested.

It was also gathered that a traditional ruler, the person of the Olu of Itsekiri was also involved in the gun running deal.

According to the group,”Ijaws are the target of all these criminal activities. As such, the government need to do everything they can to protect the lives of the Ijaws as co-citizens of the country.

Going forward, The group said that “The Ijaws are not pleased that the security agents are playing politics with such critical issues that threatened the existence of Ijaw people in Delta State.”

“Therefore, it is our advice that the government of Delta State play an important role in prosecuting the suspects of these high profile criminal cases accordingly in order to uphold justice in the state.

Consequently, a powerful Itsekiri politician in Delta State has been said to have been allegedly given the sum of two hundred #200,000 naira in order to bribe the security agents handling the case to sweep it under the carpet. Although we heard the money was rejected by the security agents.

Nevertheless, we are calling on both the Delta State government and the Federal Government to handle this case with all seriousness, by making the culprits face the full wrath of the law without any form of sentiment.
