PROTEST LETTER TO THE DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT
RE: YOUR RECKLESS LIES ABOUT WARRI NORTH MAJORITY STATUS
From: Warri Constituency Legacy
Date: 16/8/2025
Governor Oborevwori, your government has disgraced itself with the reckless lie on Facebook claiming Warri North is “predominantly Itsekiri.” That is not governance, it is dangerous propaganda, ethnic bigotry and betrayal of truth.
Warri North is two kingdoms, Egbema Ijaw and Itsekiri. The Ijaw of Egbema are the majority, proven by Pacheco Pereira (1505), British Intelligence Reports (1936, 1951), and colonial censuses (1921–1963). Our lands, Opuama, Polobubo, Tsekelewu, Gbeoba, Ogbudugbudu form the bulk of Warri North. Itsekiri are settlers on borrowed space.
Your post violates the Constitution (S.14, S.42, S.17) and mocks the Supreme Court (SC/CV/1033/2023) which already struck down the fraudulent “6–4” ward allocation. INEC has verified; only publication remains.
This reckless post is a time-bomb. Retract it, apologise and stop being an ethnic mouthpiece before you plunge Warri into chaos.
Our Demand: Retract the falsehood, respect the truth and Federal Government/INEC must publish the delineation result now.
Signed:
Chief Ebikeke T. Goodstime
(President)
Chief Thomp Miebi (Secretary)
