OPEN LETTER TO THE DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT

ON THE EVIL ACTIVITIES OF HON. AGBATEYINIRO WEYINMI, EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF WARRI SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Your Excellency,

We are compelled by conscience and the urgent need to safeguard peace in Warri to cry out against the evil and reckless actions of Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi, Executive Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area.

This man, clothed in the title of “Chairman,” has reduced himself to the very opposite of what leadership represents. Instead of being a servant of the people, Weyemi has become a merchant of violence, a patron of thuggery and a willing tool in the hands of those who thrive in chaos.

Today, every street in Warri whispers the same bitter truth: Weyemi has practically taken over from Maca Polo, the infamous gunrunner currently facing trial in court. The baton of violence has been handed over and sadly, it now rests in the hands of someone entrusted with public office. What a shame! What a betrayal!

It is no secret that Weyemi has become the chief mobilizer of thugs and violent gangs, recruited from far and near, armed and unleashed upon innocent communities at the bidding of his masters. He has turned the sacred office of a Local Government Chairman into the headquarters of gangsterism, Monies that should be used for the development of the Local Government.

Let it be made clear: the peace in Warri is fragile, very fragile. The scars of past crises still bleed in the hearts of our people, yet Weyemi chooses to fan the flames of conflict. His actions are not only reckless but evil, calculated to destroy the fragile harmony that still binds our communities together.

We therefore call, in the strongest possible terms, on:

The Delta State Government, to immediately rein in Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi before he plunges Warri into another round of senseless bloodshed.
The Nigerian Security Agencies, to investigate his connections with thugs and arms suppliers, and hold him accountable as they did with Maca Polo.
The Nigerian public and international community, to take note that Warri is sitting on a keg of gunpowder and Weyemi is striking the match.

We will not fold our arms while Warri is turned into a playground for political merchants of death. Enough is enough!

Delta State Government, the ball is in your court. Act now or be remembered as accomplices in the bloodshed that may follow.
