WAR ON DEMOCRACY: NUHU RIBADU AND INEC PLOTTING TO SILENCE WARRI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

By Esther David

We, the Warri Ijaws Stakeholders, strongly condemn the shameful and deliberate conspiracy between the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to strip the people of Warri Federal Constituency of their constitutional rights.

The recent suspension of the Supreme Court–ordered ward and unit delineation final report is a calculated betrayal of justice and a direct assault on democracy. By conniving to frustrate this lawful process, INEC and the NSA have openly chosen the path of illegality, bias, and bad faith.

The Supreme Court has spoken. Its judgment is final, binding, and above manipulation. Any attempt to suppress or delay its implementation is not only unlawful but also an insult to the Nigerian people and to the very foundation of our democracy.

Our Warning to INEC and the NSA

Let it be made abundantly clear: if the final delineation report is not released and implemented without delay, the consequences will be severe:

  1. Total collapse of credibility – INEC and the NSA will lose every shred of legitimacy before Nigerians and the world.
  2. Endless legal battles – Citizens, civil society, and stakeholders will ensure you are dragged back to court until you are forced to comply.
  3. Massive public resistance – The people will rise. Peaceful protests will fill the streets, and any instability will be on your hands.
  4. Political disgrace – History will remember you as saboteurs of democracy and enemies of the rule of law.
  5. International exposure – The world will watch as Nigeria’s image is dragged into global shame, and those responsible will face accountability.

Our Position

The people of Warri Federal Constituency will never accept disenfranchisement. We will resist every illegal attempt to silence our voices. Democracy cannot survive where court judgments are ignored, and the people’s rights are trampled upon.

We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately intervene and compel obedience to the Supreme Court judgment. Anything less is complicity.

Warri will not be silenced. Our rights will not be stolen. The people will resist and they will prevail.
