“Mackson Ode Remains Suspended Till All Allegations Leveled Against Him Are Cleared”__Says Opuede Community, As They Rebuts Misleading Publication
By Ebiowei Gabriel
Our attention has being drawn to a misleading publication tagged – Opuede Federated Community in Retrospect. Excerpts from the said publication, tends to blackmail the community as one which condones illicit activities and indulges in other unspeakable acts. For records purposes, Opuede Federated Community, is a strategic community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom. Only persons bereft of knowledge about Gbaramatu Kingdom, would not k ow the strategic position of this community, and would therefore put up such a publication, which in simple terms – is a campaign of calumny, orchestrated from the pit of hell.
We the undersigned, had taken time to read through the said publication and wish to make the following points crystal clear, without any form of ambiguity – as true sons of the soil.
In the publication, the writer mentioned and we quote –
Opuede was one of the rallying points in the “good” old days of bunkering activities across the entire coastline of Excravos and Gbaramatu Corridors. Today Opuede is left dry and empty like the story of Oloibiri the one time coveted bride of Nigeria’s crude oil.”
To ascribe a title that elicits negative image to the sterling reputation of Opuede Federated Community is not only an insult of the highest order, but an aberration.
It provokes the sensibility of the good people of our beloved community and Gbaramatu Kingdom at large. As if this was not enough, the uninformed writer, went further to state the following:
“A few years ago, Opuede had huge patronage of bunkering activities with ground rents and other statutory levies amounting into hundreds of thousands if not millions, yet Opuede has nothing to show for all the years of this illicit but high money spinning ventures.”
We want to state unequivocally, that those who instigated this narrative, needs to be examined and called to order as the Community in question is alien to these spurious claims. One may ask, who imposed such levies and to whom were such supposed monies paid to? Does it means the communities that are developed in Gbaramatu Kingdom also did so from proceeds which accrued from bunkering?
Yet again mentioned was made of the community in bad light when it was clearly stated in the publication that,
“Opuede is one of the major hosts of the multimillion Dollar failed EPZ project. Monies were paid for the acquisition of rights of ways and other compensations to the Opuede Federated Community”
Again the writer exposes his bias, when he claimed that monies were paid for the acquisition of rights of ways and other compensations to Opuede Federated Communities. We ask once again, where were these alleged monies paid into? This calls for evidence as mere claims alone amounts to nothing but cheap propaganda. Where such monies paid also to other communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, as OFC was not the only community involved in the EPZ project, if so what percentage got to Opuede Federated Communities?
“Establishment of the Opuede Farms and Foods Processing Industries Limited for the restoration of the battered reputation of the community via the bunkering activities of the past.”
Opuede Federated Communities is inhabited by persons who are schooled and thus, would not fold her arms and allow an individual fret away our common wealth, in the names of a farm.
Worthy of mentioning here is the meeting convened on the 11th of November 2025, at the instance of Traditional Chiefs of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, to look into the suspension meted out on Mr Mackson Utueyin Ode and the Vice Chairman, Mr Patrick Torowei. There it was disclosed by Mr Mackson Utueyin Ode the suspended Chairman of the Community that the said farms was his own and a paltry 10℅ is all the entire community would benefit, after all expenses must had been deducted from the proceeds.
This fact is verifiable as it was said before all members of the panel and also recorded.
Contained in the publication was the mention of electrification project. Extracts from the publication reads thus,
“Electrification Project. There must be Electricity in Opuede just like other progressive communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom. The CHICHIDODOS are at it again to stop or frustrate the good intentions of the Mackson Ode led Executive. Just the way they concocted allegations in order to stop the Ultra Modern Town Hall Project, they want to stop the Electrification Project.”
It beats ones imagination that all and everything mentioned here in the guise of project, are all geared towards raising money for a particular individual. Whereas, these projects seems to be for the community, the Exco members are in the dark. Not even one of these agreements are co signed by the Secretary of the Community.
These bogus project proposals signed on behalf of the good people of OFC excludes ‘third party’ interference.
Who then are those referred to as ‘third party’ for a matter that needs the community to buy in and protect?
A close examination of these projects which are for extortion purposes, as is the case of the mini grid, reveals a whole lot of caveats which were concealed and undisclosed to members of the community.
We would not allow such a blind agreement prevail on the community. It is grossly rejected, loopsided and financially draining.
Mr Mackson Utueyin Ode remains suspended till all allegations levied against him are cleared. He was given till the 20th of December 2025 by the Chief P. T Heavens lead panel of Traditional Chiefs, to prove his himself free from the allegations leveled on him, doing so with vital proofs and supporting documents. Till then, the general public should not have any dealings with neither him nor the Vice Chairman in the capacity of the Chairman and the Vice Chairman respectively of Opuede Federated Community.
