The National Assembly’s upper chamber has summoned executives from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for a N100 billion contract fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senate also reported that 626 contractors fled after receiving N61.4 billion in mobilization fees.
Senator Matthew Urhoghide, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, relied on special periodic checks on the Niger Delta Development Commission’s actions and programs from January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Urhoghide stated during the committee meeting that the NDDC has been called to appear on Wednesday, and that the Committee will personalize every refund that can be traced to an individual during the investigative hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We also invite them to inquire about the status of every revenue deposited into their accounts.” We’re waiting for the NDDC, and if they don’t show up, we’ll take appropriate measures.”
“It was seen that so many contractors were paid mobilization fees to enable them to begin the execution of the projects awarded to them,” one of the questions reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cContrary to the terms and agreement, some of the contractors bolted away after collection of the mobilization fees.\\s\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that this activity involves 626 contractors and that N61.4 billion was wasted due to fraudulent operations was unexpected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
