According to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, one million illegitimate institutional admissions have been identified thus far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board expressed surprise that less than 5% of such students’ information had been posted to the board’s portal as required by the universities.
It attributed the illicit admissions to certain candidates’ inability to get their acceptance letters, which would have qualified them to continue on the one-year required National Youth Service Corps or secure exemption letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board claimed this phenomena was notably true of products of concealed illicit institutional admissions undertaken outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) between 2017 and 2020, according to Fabian Benjamin, its Head of Media and Protocol.
“The series of complaints arose from the frustrations of these students who are expressing indignation at the absence of formal acknowledgment of their degrees by appropriate authorities,” according to the statement.
As a result, the Hon. Minister of Education, Mall. Adamu Adamu, approved a final batch of these shady admissions out of compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It should be remembered that the Board had posted relevant advertisements in three national daily (Blueprint, Guardian, and Vanguard) on November 24, 2021, based on that gesture of magnanimity.” The same announcement was posted on the Board’s website, along with an easy-to-follow Advisory for all institutions of higher learning on how to redeem these candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So far, close to one million undeclared unlawful institutional admissions have been revealed based on accessible data.” What’s shocking is that, as of today, fewer than 5% of such students’ information has been posted to the Board portal as mandated by the schools. Even among the few that had been posted by the schools, it is even more obnoxious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Board, as a result, uses this medium to urge institutions to submit the candidates’ matriculation numbers, names, disciplines, year of graduation, and other pertinent information as soon as possible so that the Board can process their condonement applications.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Board reiterates that it is incumbent on the institutions to correctly key in the details of the candidates as illustrated on the advisory issued to institutions, as advertised in the dailies and on the Board’s website, for the prompt processing of candidates retroactive admission letters in order for them to obtain necessary clearance for their previously underhanded admissions.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
