Ijaw leader, politician, and seasoned technocrat, Ambassador Tom Ebiakpo Willy, has called on the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), High Chief Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, to disregard detractors and concentrate on delivering his mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willy’s statement comes in response to recent media reports linking the Otuaro-led Amnesty board to alleged financial improprieties highlighted in a recently released audit report by the Auditor General of the Federation. The report, covering activities from 2021 to 2022, pointed to financial irregularities within the Amnesty office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the PAP administration has dissociated itself from the findings of the report, emphasizing that the audit pertains to a period before Otuaro assumed office. A copy of the PAP statement addressing the issue was made available to IduwiniVoice News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his reaction, Ambassador Willy dismissed the allegations as baseless and aimed at undermining the progress achieved under Otuaro\u2019s leadership. He said:
“Wait ooo, are we not giving too much attention to all these unrepentant detractors with baseless insinuations and allegations? Let’s ignore them.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willy further urged the people of the Niger Delta to support Otuaro, cautioning against distractions by individuals with selfish motives. He stated:
“Dr. Otuaro and the entire Niger Delta should ignore gainseekers whose agenda is to destroy the good job he is doing as PAP Administrator.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since his appointment, Otuaro has focused on restructuring the Amnesty Programme, prioritizing transparency and ensuring the program meets its goals of rehabilitating ex-agitators and fostering sustainable peace in the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willy\u2019s appeal echoes the sentiments of many stakeholders in the region who believe that unity and focus are crucial for the program’s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
