\u200eSUSTAINING THE GAINS IN THE NIGER DELTA: A CALL TO SUPPORT TANTITA SECURITY SERVICES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST OIL THEFT AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION.

\u200eWe write to you as stakeholders of Niger Delta and as an independent organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights, socio-economic justice, environmental sustainability, peace and stability in the Niger Delta region.
\u200e
\u200eThe Niger Delta region, long regarded as Nigeria\u2019s economic backbone due to its vast oil reserves, has also endured some of the most grievous consequences of oil exploitation. Oil theft, commonly referred to as bunkering along with the consistent vandalization of oil infrastructure, had become a daily scourge in the creeks and waterways of the region. Despite the involvement of various private security outfits and government agencies over the years, these illegal activities thrived, crippling oil production, ravaging the environment and destabilizing already vulnerable local economies.

\u200eThe consequences were dire. Communities dependent on fishing and marine related livelihoods watched helplessly as crude oil poisoned their waters, killed aquatic life and rendered their nets useless. The air and soil were saturated with pollutants. Entire ecosystems collapsed. With no economic alternatives, youth restiveness soared and crime deepened its roots.

\u200eA turnaround began with the engagement of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd., under the visionary leadership of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and High Chief Kestin Pondi. Tantita brought not just tactical efficiency but also cultural fluency, leveraging deep rooted relationships across Niger Delta communities to create a comprehensive and locally anchored strategy for tackling oil related crimes.

\u200eWhat distinguished Tantita from previous efforts was its grassroots centered approach. The company reached out directly to community leaders, youth organizations and those who had, out of desperation, been involved in illegal bunkering. Through employment, dialogue and partnership, Tantita empowered both men and women from the host communities, turning former saboteurs into protectors of the nation\u2019s oil infrastructure.

\u200eThe results were swift and undeniable. Within months, oil theft and pipeline vandalism dropped significantly. Nigeria\u2019s crude oil production once under threat saw a sharp recovery. Polluted creeks began to clear. Fishing resumed and local economies started to breathe again. Elderly men and women, who had long abandoned their traditional fishing trade, returned to the waters with optimism, drawing fresh catches from now revived waterways.

\u200eTantita\u2019s success where others failed is no accident. Its operations are marked by discipline, synergy with security agencies and genuine integration into local communities. No other private security firm has matched this level of sustained impact.

\u200eIn view of this, we call on Mr President and the Management of NNPCL to stand firmly behind Tantita and not to succumb to the malicious propagandas being circulated by those who seek to drag the region and the nation backward.

\u200eFurthermore, we urge the government to extend and expand Tantita\u2019s contract and operational scope, to ensure the gains already recorded are protected and scaled. Such action would not only increase Nigeria\u2019s oil production but also contribute meaningfully to long-term peace, environmental recovery and socioeconomic renewal in the Niger Delta.

\u200eMost importantly, we call on all Niger Deltans, Traditional Rulers, youth leaders, women groups, local stakeholders and civil society organizations to unite in support of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd. This is our own. A homegrown solution. Let us rise to defend the future of our environment, our livelihoods and our children.
