Open Letter to INEC: Ignore Itsekiri Propagandas and Implement the Supreme Court-Mandated Ward Delineation in Warri Federal Constituency
\u200eFrom Courtrooms to Ethnic Exploits: The Itsekiri Nation\u2019s Desperate Attempts to Derail Justice

\u200eThe Ijaw Stakeholders Forum strongly condemns the ongoing and desperate attempts by the Itsekiri Nation to obstruct the legitimate and long-overdue ward and polling unit delineation in Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas of Delta State.

\u200eThis delineation exercise, initiated and backed by a definitive Supreme Court judgment, is not a political favour but a constitutional obligation. It seeks to correct decades of historical injustice, strengthen electoral transparency, and guarantee equitable political representation for all ethnic groups, particularly the Ijaw and Urhobo, within the Warri Federal Constituency.

\u200eYet instead of embracing this democratic process, the Itsekiri Nation have embarked on a relentless campaign of legal theatrics and ethnic manipulation. They have initiated frivolous lawsuits across multiple jurisdictions, from Delta to Edo, Lagos, and Abuja, all with one aim: to frustrate INEC and delay justice. Having failed to achieve their aims in court, they have now turned to a misguided ethnic crusade, attempting to sow discord by appealing to unrelated ethnic groups like the Benin, Igala, and Yoruba, in a bid to distort facts and derail national attention.

\u200eLet the record be clear: these antics are not about justice, fairness, or due process. They are driven purely by narrow ethnic interests and an attempt to maintain an outdated political monopoly over the Warri Federal Constituency at the expense of Ijaw and Urhobo political rights.

\u200eWe call on INEC to remain undistracted and resolute in fulfilling its constitutional duty. The lies and propaganda being peddled by the Itsekiri Nation should be treated with the disdain they deserve. Nigeria\u2019s democracy must not be held hostage by one group\u2019s fear of equitable representation.
\u200e
\u200eThe Ijaw Stakeholders Forum urges INEC to immediately release its final fieldwork report and proceed with the full implementation of the new ward delineation structure. Any further delay would not only be unjust but a betrayal of Nigeria\u2019s democratic principles and the rule of law.
\u200e
\u200eWe also call on civil society organizations, the media, and all well-meaning Nigerians to rise above ethnic propaganda and support the cause of justice and inclusion. The Ijaw people have been marginalized and silenced for too long, but we will not be quiet anymore. We stand for peace, justice, and equity, and we will continue to resist every attempt to suppress our rightful voice.
