The National Coordinator of Niger Delta Advocates For Peace, Development and Economic Justice (NDAPDEJ), Comrade Freeborn Abraye, has launched a blistering attack on the Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC, over its recent call for the decentralization of the pipeline surveillance contract being executed by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, describing the demand as “dangerous, hypocritical, politically sponsored and a direct threat to Nigeria’s economic survival.”
In a fierce and uncompromising statement issued on Saturday, Abraye accused a powerful clique of Itsekiri political leaders and economic opportunists of masterminding the campaign against Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited because the company’s operations have destroyed the multibillion-naira illegal oil bunkering empire that previously enriched a few selfish individuals while Nigeria’s economy suffered monumental losses.
According to Abraye, the sudden agitation for decentralization is not driven by patriotism or fairness, but by bitterness, envy and frustration from those whose illegal access to the nation’s oil wealth has been blocked by Tantita’s aggressive crackdown on crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism across the Niger Delta.
“The campaign against Tompolo and Tantita Security Services is nothing but a desperate revenge mission sponsored by those who profited from economic sabotage, crude oil theft, illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalism for years.”
“These individuals are angry because the era of criminal exploitation of Nigeria’s oil resources is coming to an end. Their illegal business empire has collapsed under the fearless operations of Tantita Security Services, and now they are looking for ethnic and political excuses to weaken the system that stopped them.”
Abraye stated that before Tantita Security Services was awarded the pipeline surveillance contract, Nigeria’s oil sector was under siege by criminal syndicates who vandalized pipelines freely, stole crude oil in massive quantities and crippled the nation’s economy without resistance.
He noted that Nigeria lost billions of dollars monthly to organized oil theft before Tompolo’s intervention restored sanity, improved oil production and strengthened confidence in the petroleum sector.
“Before Tompolo stepped in, Nigeria was practically surrendering its economic future to criminals. Pipelines were under constant attacks, illegal refineries operated openly and the nation was bleeding financially on a catastrophic scale.”
“Today, the story has changed completely because Tantita brought discipline, intelligence, local knowledge and operational effectiveness into the fight against oil theft. That is why the enemies of progress are panicking.”
The NDAPDEJ Coordinator described the call for decentralization as a calculated attempt to destabilize the successful security architecture established by Tantita Security Services and reopen the Niger Delta waterways to criminal cartels involved in crude oil theft.
He warned that any politically motivated interference with Tantita’s operations would amount to economic sabotage against the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Any attempt to weaken Tantita Security Services at this critical period is not activism, it is economic terrorism against Nigeria. Those pushing this agenda are indirectly encouraging the return of crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering.”
Abraye further accused the Itsekiri National Youths Council of hypocrisy and selective outrage, challenging them to first demand the decentralization of the pipeline surveillance contract handled by their King, Tsola Emiko, the Olu of Itsekiri before attacking Tompolo.
“If the Itsekiri National Youths Council genuinely believes in fairness and decentralization, let them first call for the decentralization of the pipeline surveillance contract handled by their Monarch Tsola Emiko, Olu of Itsekiri”.
“They cannot remain comfortably silent when benefits are flowing in their direction and suddenly become defenders of justice because Tompolo is succeeding. Nigerians can clearly see through this deception.”
Abraye emphasized that the pipeline surveillance contract was not awarded on the basis of ethnicity or political patronage, but on competence, results and the urgent need to save Nigeria’s collapsing oil sector.
He said Tompolo has achieved what many government agencies and security formations failed to accomplish for years.
“The facts are undeniable. Under Tompolo’s leadership, oil theft has reduced drastically, illegal refining camps are being dismantled daily, stolen crude oil vessels are being intercepted and Nigeria’s oil production capacity is improving steadily.”
“Those attacking Tompolo cannot point to a single achievement comparable to what Tantita has delivered within a short period. Their only concern is that the criminal loopholes they once exploited have been permanently blocked.”
Abraye warned ethnic groups and political actors against turning a national economic security matter into an ethnic conflict, stressing that the fight against oil theft should unite all Nigerians rather than divide them.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to completely disregard the “noise of sponsored propagandists” and continue supporting Tantita Security Services in the national interest.
“President Tinubu must not surrender Nigeria’s economic future to blackmailers, ethnic merchants and beneficiaries of criminality. This administration must stand firmly with those producing results instead of listening to people whose hidden agenda is to revive the illegal oil economy.”
“The President must understand that the attacks against Tompolo are not attacks against one man alone; they are attacks against the progress recorded in securing Nigeria’s oil assets and increasing national revenue.”
Abraye concluded by declaring that patriotic Niger Delta stakeholders would strongly resist every conspiracy aimed at sabotaging the achievements recorded in the ongoing war against crude oil theft.
“The Niger Delta will not allow enemies of economic progress to drag this region back into the dark era of pipeline vandalism, illegal bunkering and organized crude oil theft. Nigerians must reject every sponsored campaign against Tantita Security Services and those genuinely protecting the nation’s economic lifeline.”
