Comrade Freeborn Abraye, the National Coordinator of the Niger Delta Advocates For Peace, Development And Economic Justice (NDAPDEJ), has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately implement the recently released final delineation report for the Warri Federal Constituency.

According to Abraye, failure to implement the report would render the entire delineation exercise undertaken by INEC meaningless. He maintained that the Commission does not require the permission of the Itsekiri ethnic group or any other interest group before implementing the final report it has officially released.

Therefore, he urged the Commission to proceed with the implementation of the report without further delay.

Abraye noted that the Ijaw people accepted the final delineation report released by INEC, not because it satisfies all their demands for equitable political representation, but because they recognize the need for compromise in the interest of peace, stability, and harmonious coexistence between the three ethnic groups in Warri Federal Constituency.

He further commended INEC for the creation of two new State Constituencies, one in Warri South-West and the other in Warri North Local Government Areas respectively, as well as the proposed Federal Constituency arrangement contained in the report.

The NDAPDEJ National Coordinator stressed that immediate implementation of the report would enable political parties to organize their primaries in the newly created wards and constituencies, thereby ensuring that the people of the constituency can fully participate in the 2027 General Elections.

Abraye described the implementation of the final report as the concluding stage of the delineation process ordered by the Supreme Court. He argued that the Itsekiris are only rejecting the final report released by INEC on the 20th of May, 2026, at a stakeholders meeting comprising of stakeholders from Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo in the constituency, just because it does not favor or reflect the fake and illegal majority status they once enjoyed in Warri Federal Constituency with the then ten wards political structure, before the Supreme Court ordered the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh wards and polling units delineation in the Constituency.

He further contended that findings recorded by INEC during and after the delineation exercise indicate that the Itsekiri population constitutes a minority in both Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas. According to him, the delineation exercise has corrected what he described as a long-standing imbalance in political representation affecting the Ijaw people in the affected local government areas.

Abraye therefore reiterated his call on INEC to immediately implement the final report, emphasizing that doing so would demonstrate the Commission’s commitment to fairness, transparency, credibility, and the rule of law ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
