The Niger Delta Advocates For Peace, Development And Economic Justice (NDAPDEJ) issues this statement as a final and uncompromising warning to the Legislative Arm of the Warri South Local Government Council and all those behind the disgraceful and inflammatory attempt to deny the existence of the Ogbe-Ijoh people in Warri South LGA.

Let it be made abundantly clear: this reckless action is not just an administrative overreach, it is a direct provocation capable of igniting serious unrest in Warri Federal Constituency.

We consider the conduct of the Warri South Legislative Arm as irresponsible, unlawful, historically fraudulent, and a calculated attempt to distort reality for selfish political ends. Such actions will not be tolerated under any guise.

The Legislative Arm has arrogantly assumed powers it does not possess. No local government legislative body has the constitutional, moral, or historical authority to determine who is indigenous to Warri South. That matter has long been settled by history and, more recently, by lawful federal processes.

The INEC-conducted and implemented Warri Federal Constituency Delineation Report has clearly and unequivocally affirmed the presence and status of the Ogbe-Ijoh people as part of Warri South LGA. This is not open to debate, manipulation, or political misinterpretation.

Furthermore, pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial historical records overwhelmingly establish the Ogbe-Ijoh people as indigenous to Warri South. These are documented facts that no amount of propaganda or legislative recklessness can erase.

What the Warri South Legislative Arm has done is therefore nothing short of institutional provocation, ethnic incitement, and a dangerous gamble with the peace of Warri Federal Constituency.

NDAPDEJ will not stand idly by while a group of politically motivated actors attempts to rewrite history and create tension where none should exist.

We therefore issue the following demands and warnings:

  1. Immediate suspension of the entire Legislative Arm of the Warri South Local Government Council by the Delta State House of Assembly for gross misconduct, abuse of office, and actions capable of breaching public peace.
  2. Immediate retraction of any statement or position denying the existence of the Ogbe-Ijoh people in Warri South LGA.
  3. A clear warning to all political actors: any further attempt to distort established facts or provoke ethnic tension will be met with firm, lawful, and coordinated resistance.

Let no one misinterpret our position because we are committed to peace, but not at the expense of truth, justice, and the dignity of any people.

If this dangerous trend is not halted immediately, those responsible will bear full responsibility for any breakdown of law and order that may arise from their actions. History will not be kind to those who choose provocation over peace.

We call on the Delta State Government and all relevant authorities to act decisively and without delay. Silence or inaction in the face of this provocation will be seen as complicity.

This is not a request. This is a demand in the interest of justice, stability, and the preservation of peace in Warri Federal Constituency.

Enough of the manipulation. Enough of the distortion. Enough of the provocation.

Signed:
Comrade Freeborn Abraye
National Coordinator
Niger Delta Advocates For Peace, Development And Economic Justice (NDAPDEJ).
